Our Story

I was born with a severe peanut allergy. As anyone with my condition, or their friends or family knows, it is always a challenge to find food that people like us can safely eat. 

Long before I was born in Toronto, Ontario, my mom immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in search of greater opportunities. Sadly, she was always missing a taste of home. Growing up, I remember a delicious hot sauce that often accompanied our meals, bringing back a little taste of home with every bite. We were also often served the same hot sauce at many Chinese restaurants. 

However, as I grew up, fewer and fewer restaurants were able to guarantee their sauces were peanut-free.  I've been on a search for the perfect Chinese-style hot sauce, peanut-free, for years. To my disappointment, I was never able to find any such sauce in Canada with that potent spicy flavor that could also guarantee being peanut-free. Every similar product either contained peanuts or is manufactured in facilities that process peanuts. Moreover, these sauces are often made with genetically modified soybean oil. 

I wanted to make a healthier, peanut-free option for people who have peanut  allergies like myself, or simply those who would like to enjoy a delicious hot chili sauce made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and made right here, in Canada. 

This yearning led me to create Spicy Daddy’s, an authentically Chinese-style chili sauce with just the right amount of kick. Our dedicated flavour engineers are confident that you will enjoy this sauce as much as we do.
